Mission Statement:

The mission of ATAA is to share Anthroposophic -based artistic therapies as modalities for healing and social change.  ATAA serves our association members by supporting outreach, and professional development in the arts, sciences, and medicine.

What is ATAA:
Founded in 1997, Anthroposophic Therapeutic Arts Association (ATAA) formerly AAATNA, is a member-run association of Professionals trained in and/or practicing Anthroposophic
Therapeutic Arts throughout Canada and the USA.

ATAA seeks to foster and support the professional development and practice of
Anthroposophic Therapeutic Arts and to increase awareness and professional recognition within the general Art Therapy profession, the public and the Integrative Health Communities.

How Do We Achieve Our Goals:
ATAA carries out its mandate by connecting with members online and on traditional platforms, providing information about therapy services, practices, and training opportunities between and amongst the vibrant ATAA membership, Anthroposophic community, art therapy professionals and others interested in Integrative Health.

ATAA, Anthroposophic Therapeutic Arts Association, are a group of therapists specializing in providing therapeutic artistic experiences to children and adults, both healthy and ill. Though it is ideal to work in conjunction with an Anthroposophic doctor, it is also possible to work directly with an Anthroposophic Therapeutic Arts practitioner.

Anthroposophic Therapeutic Arts In North America makes use of three main modalities: drawing, painting and sculpture and can been seen as having a health enhancing effect in the area of thinking, feeling and willing respectively.  Recently, Metal Color Light Therapy has emerged as an exciting therapeutic approach.

The Logo: The Open Lemniscate as the Basis of the Caduceus

The significance of the open lemniscate is that it shows the working together of the Michael Path (through waking consciousness, upper pole, light) with the Raphaelic Path (through life, lower pole, darkness, healing, sleep). These paths cross in the center, the heart, in love and warmth.

The open form indicates an openness to spirit (from above) and has qualities of movement and dynamic balance. The vertical aspect, in this case the light pouring in from above, represents the “I” working through all the sheaths of the human being and is directly connected to the spirit.
